Book Review: Fairest Of All

Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to another book review. I recently went to my town’s Public Library in search of some new books to read. I usually spend a good hour or two in the Library because I want to only get the best of the best books to read. I usually scan the shelves over and over again seeing if there are any books that catch my attention, or see if I can find any books that have are on my TBR List that I can check out. And low and behold I found this beauty of a book, Fairest Of All by Serena Valentino.

This book has been on my TBR List for quite some time now and I’m so happy that I found this book at the Library! This book is a backstory of how the Evil Queen became the way she is today. If you know me, I am a HUGE fan of all things DISNEY related and when I heard that there was a Disney Villain Book Series, I knew that I just had to go out and find the books and read them.

WARNING!! THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SOME SPOLIERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!! (I’ll try to keep the spoilers down to a minimum)

This book receives 5 shiny stars, it did not disappoint me at all. Love knowing how the Evil Queen and Snow White was back when they were younger. Believe it or not the Queen actually loved Snow, shocker right? We also get to find out what made the Evil Queen so evil, turns out she was insecure, she had an abusive father who always tore her down and made her doubt her beauty. But it just wasn’t her father, we also meet new characters who also had a role in making The Queen the way she was.

Lucinda, Ruby and Martha are three sisters who are cousins to Snow White’s Father, The King, and they are witches, when the first stepped into the scene I could just tell that they were going to be trouble,  they were sending me and bad vibe and what do you know I was right!! Definitely not a fan of theirs!! *insert angry face here* They knew that the Queen had doubts and played her by using her weakness.

This book really touched me, The Queen was just like us, we all have our insecurities no matter how big or how small and we would love nothing else for someone to love us and look over our insecurities. The King saw The Queen’s beauty, but when he died there was no one there for her to give her the encouragement that she needed. And the three sisters don’t help at all especially with the magic mirror that they enchanted. The Magic Mirror we know from the movie was The Queen’s wedding gift from her new husband, The King, but Lucinda and her sisters enchanted the mirror and trapped The Queen’s Father’s Soul in the mirror, because her father made mirrors for a living. So even though he’s dead he still haunts and taunts the Queen.

By reading this book I know see The Evil Queen in a new light and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Disney Villains Backstories, the next one is The Beast Within, the backstory of The Prince from Beauty and the Beast.
